  Antivirus FAQs:

Here are a few of the frequently asked questions we've encountered while presenting Command AV to our partners over the past month:

Q:

The Commtouch solutions we know are all based in the cloud. Is Command Antivirus a cloud-based solution?
A: Most virus detections are handled by the Command AV client, which resides locally on the server or device. The client utilizes multiple engines to detect viruses based on heuristics, file signatures and other proprietary techniques. However, in some cases the client will query the cloud for final verification.

Q: What does the API look like?
A: The Command AV API is similar to Common Object Model (COM). It consists of fewer than ten calls with a range of parameters for optimal flexibility.

Q: Can I integrate the client into my existing solution?
A: Yes, the Antivirus SDK can be integrated with any language that provides a C/C++ interface method, such as Python, Java, etc.

Q: How easy is the integration, really?
A: The SDK is very easy to integrate. Most partners take one to three days to get the SDK integrated.

We're pleased to announce new product versions for each of the Commtouch messaging and Web security offerings, which are scheduled for release next month. The release includes developments that partners will find useful:

1) Commtouch Mail Sort
The new Mail Sort feature allows better inbox management by distinguishing personal emails from valid, general mailings such as newsletters. The distinction between individual and large-scale messages is handled automatically in the GlobalView Network and does not require any “training” by end-users.

2) Expanded monitoring
All of the messaging and Web security products will benefit from the new, more comprehensive SNMP counters. These include: number of queries forwarded to the GlobalView Network, number of records in the local cache, the number of queries currently being processed (for URL Filtering), and many more.

Availability:
Partners and customers interested in upgrading to the new version should contact their Commtouch customer support representative for more details.
