Untangle Introduces Premium Anti-Spam Solution with Commtouch Technology

Sunnyvale and San Mateo, CA – April 27, 2009 – Untangle and Commtouch® (NASDAQ: CTCH) today announced an agreement to offer Untangle users an anti-spam upgrade option via Commtouch’s SpamAssassin plug-in.

Untangle added the Commtouch technology to its Untangle Network Gateway, which includes numerous open source technologies including Debian, Snort, ClamAV, OpenVPN and iptables. With 12 open source applications and a series of commercial add-ons specifically developed for the IT infrastructure of small businesses (150 or fewer seats), Untangle was the first, and continues to be one of the most successful, commercial-grade open source solutions for blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and inappropriate content on the network.

“At Untangle, we like to keep things simple for our customers and are continuously seeking best-of-breed technologies to add value to our advanced open source offerings. For this reason, Commtouch was a natural choice; our clients will no longer have to worry about updating their anti-spam service and can focus on their core business,” said Dirk Morris, chief technology officer and co-founder of Untangle. “Commtouch’s proven track record as a strong, stable and high quality technology partner will enable us to deliver top notch and efficient security solutions to our clients.”

The use of open source software in commercial enterprises has been increasing steadily, and is expected to continue with the current economic uncertainty. With growth accelerating over the last six months, Untangle now has 14,000 active small business deployments.

“With the current market conditions putting pressure on companies to cut back on costs, the flexibility and availability of open source software solutions should stand out,” said Avner Amram, Commtouch’s executive vice president and general manager, Americas. “Commtouch is pleased to have found a solid open source partner in Untangle. Through this relationship, we will enable Untangle to provide high quality anti-spam protection to its premium clients.”
