MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. –May 5 2005 - Commtouch ® (NASDAQ: CTCHC), the developer of ground-breaking RPD™ technology for real time anti-spam and zero-hour virus protection, announced today that it has signed a combined licensing agreement with PineApp, an appliance vendor specializing in messaging and content security. This deal follows Commtouch’s announcement, on March 31st, that Commtouch has won exclusive rights for worldwide commercial marketing of DCC (Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse).
The agreement covers usage of patent #6,330,590, past usage of DCC and an upgrade package to RPD, Commtouch’s proprietary anti-spam technology.
Confirms Commtouch’s Leadership in Anti-Spam Licensing
“Coming on the heels of our agreement to market DCC commercially, the license to PineApp marks one of the first steps in implementing our global DCC licensing strategy,” said Commtouch CEO Gideon Mantel. “We plan to decisively enforce our licensing program and patent strategy in a comprehensive manner.”
Through licensing of RPD to more than 20 commercial partners worldwide, Commtouch is already the leading player in the anti-spam OEM arena. “Our technologies and patents are now used by the majority of the world’s security appliance vendors. Some are already Commtouch licensees, and the remainder, we believe, will sign up for our licensing program in the coming months,” said Mantel.
