Commtouch Messaging Security Expert to Present at VB2006

Mountain View, CA-- October 10, 2006 – Commtouch (NASDAQ: CTCH), announced today that one of its senior experts, Vice President Jay Goldin, will speak at Virus Bulletin 2006 (VB2006), a conference which starts tomorrow in Montreal.

Mr. Goldin will present his paper, “Containing Spam - the Local Challenge,” which was co-authored with Amir Lev, Commtouch’s President and Chief Technology Officer. The presentation discusses the challenges inherent in fighting spam and malware around the globe.

While some spam and malware outbreaks are global, a significant portion bears very specific characteristics in various regions such as China, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe. Local attributes extend beyond the obvious language differences. Techniques used by spammers vary according to culture, environment and local laws and law enforcement.

“Anti-spam filters that work well in the US and Western Europe often cannot cope with East Asian and East European spam,” Mr. Lev said. “Commtouch’s daily analysis of millions of global and regional spam and malware messages provides a real time overview of this issue from up close.”

The paper and presentation dig below the surface in characterizing differences between spam in major regions and reviewing anti-spam approaches and their local effectiveness.

“Understanding regional variations in spam and malware attacks is crucial for the security community,” Mr. Goldin said. “Security is a global business, and successful regional attacks tend to spread outward, rapidly becoming a global threat.”

The presentation will be taking place on Thursday, October 12, at 2:40 pm. at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, Montréal, Québec, Canada.
