Commtouch qmail integration tools enable vendors and service providers with qmail-based solutions to incorporate Commtouch best-of-breed technology for blocking spam and zero hour virus outbreaks, while leveraging existing platforms. These tools easily integrate into their existing MTA systems, providing advanced Recurrent Pattern Detection™ (RPD™) and GlobalView™ technologies to their customers.
For optimized integration, Commtouch offers several different qmail integration options including support for qmail-Scanner and qpSMTPd.
Qmail users can benefit from Commtouch’s qpSMTPd daemon plug-in for Anti-Spam, Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection and GlobalView IP Reputation technology. Since qpSMTPd replaces the original qmail SMTP daemon, it allows native implementation of Commtouch’s IP Reputation services. This configuration provides on-session blocking of up to 90% of unwanted traffic from the network; the rest can be blocked by Commtouch Anti-Spam and Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection.
Qmail-Scanner is a content scanner situated between qmail’s SMTP daemon and queuing mechanism. Qmail-Scanner has native support for SpamAssassin, with which Commtouch’s SpamAssassin plug-in can be used. Additionally, Commtouch provides a software patch, enabling a direct interface between qmail-Scanner and Commtouch’s Advanced Security Daemon for Anti-Spam and Virus Outbreak Detection, thus achieving higher performance and accuracy than SpamAssassin alone.
